Goodbye Dolls
Hania and Matylda are in their early teens and are just discovering that growing up can turn their world upside down. Their bodies, emotions, friendships, and family relationships are all changing. Hania dreams of writing and craves privacy, while Matylda wants to be an actress and live for the stage. They try to find their place at school, but real life begins once the doors to their colorful rooms are closed—safe cocoons where they spin fantasies, dissect first loves, and ponder big questions about the future.
In these rooms, they also keep their past lives hidden: their beloved childhood dolls. The girls cannot bear to part with them, for the dolls hold their innermost dreams, fears, and memories. Then, one day, the dolls emerge from hiding and come to life.
Do they know Hania and Matylda better than the girls know themselves? And instead of helping them grow up, might they remind them of what they fear losing most?
