Nanga Dream

“Nanga Dream” will be the story of the friendship between Tomek Mackiewicz and Marek Klonowski – outsiders united by a call to adventure, high mountains, and a shared dream of making the first winter ascent of Nanga Parbat.

This will not be a classic biography based on detailed facts and a precise chronology. The story will focus primarily on the relationship of the two friends – how it changed and evolved in the face of the great test of character that was the confrontation with Mount Morderca, as Nanga Parbat is often referred to.

The film, which features the perspective of Marek Klonowski, the originator of the idea and name Nanga Dream, is based on numerous private archival materials, most of which will be released for the first time. The archival materials will be juxtaposed with footage currently being shot.

YOUR STORY COULD BE PART OF THE FILM

“Nanga Dream” is more than just a story about climbing. It is also a story about people—their relationships, dreams, choices, and the paths they traveled. We want to tell this story from multiple perspectives, including those that have remained off-camera until now.

That is why, as part of the CrowdFilm initiative, we invite anyone who knew Tomasz Mackiewicz and/or Marek Klonowski to help build a unique archive for the film.

We are looking for private recordings, photographs, documents, and other materials that can help us bring the protagonists—and the world they lived in—closer to the audience. We are interested in both major events and everyday moments: meetings, travels, conversations, shared expeditions, jokes, places, and situations that might seem insignificant today but take on a whole new meaning in retrospect.

If you have something in your archives that you would like to share, please get in touch. Your material might just allow us to see Tomek or Marek from a completely different perspective and make their story more complete.

Be part of the film. Share your archive.
