About

Together. Apart. Uni. Solo.

We believe in cinema that begins with a meeting of minds but also requires space for a unique voice.

UNI stands for collaboration.

Shared energy, the clashing of ideas, the exchange of experiences, and the pursuit of something that cannot be found in isolation.

SOLO stands for independence.

A personal perspective, intuition, and the courage to forge one’s own path.

UNI-SOLO is a way of working. It does not imply a single team, a single method, or a single point of view. It represents a readiness to bring together people, ideas, and expertise while leaving room for individuality.

The studio was founded in 2015, born from the union of two distinct perspectives: those of producer Karolina Śmigiel and director Jarek Wszędybył. From the very beginning, its strength lay in that dynamic tension—working together without losing one’s own voice.

Today, UNI-SOLO represents an open collaborative model. For each project, we select the people, partners, and working methods that the specific story requires. Sometimes we work together from the initial concept to the finished film. At other times, we operate independently, combining diverse skills and perspectives at various stages of production.

We are interested in artistic films that address important social issues, expand audiences, and encourage a more attentive view of the world. We believe that film is not merely an artistic work but also a tool for communication—a space for connection, the exchange of perspectives, and the raising of awareness.

Film and media education

Alongside our own productions and co-productions, we are also engaged in film and media education. We develop workshops and educational projects where film serves as a starting point for conversation, experimentation, asking questions, and viewing reality from diverse perspectives.

We create various educational formats in collaboration with organizations and institutions, including the Andrzej Wajda Film Culture Centre, the “ę” Society for Creative Initiatives, SWPS University, the Warsaw Film School, and the New Horizons Association.

We work with young people and adults, teachers, educators, cultural animators, students, activists, and seniors. We believe that everyone possesses creativity and that film allows us to tell stories about the world and ourselves.
